i used random old 3D meshes yes and just knocked smth together. still better than those always the same pixel graphics that alien does

In my defence, the bottom third of the picture is 100% hand-painted Maybe about 10% of the top two thirds are painted.
At the time, I was experimenting with matte painting (was considering getting a job in the movie industry), so a lot of my stuff from that period either were mattes, or used some degree of matte painting techniques.

Yeah, and above all I am probably wasting my time. From my experience these "artists" did never care about art, but about backpats from their peers. Let's see who can get the nicest looking oiled up boobs, muscles and dragons on our computers. The thing I like most about demoscene art generally is the logos. No I don't think so, but on the other hand I also think we don't need an art policeman telling us what to think about stuff. I doubt I am destroying any illusions here anyway, am I. Looks like a wirejob + bad edit to me. Also looks like Facet had a version of it which missed the right part of it, including bits of her knee. Try overlaying a full version of Vallejo's (including the tail of the fish and tip of the birds wing) and you will see what I mean.
Not some, ALL parts of this logo are stolen from that one, just rotated and flipped. He even used Ra's signature for his own. Now either this is lame or resourceful. Or both.
