It is multigigascreen mode. It flicks on real hardware. That mode has 2 bitplanes with 15 color palette in each 8x2 cell. Resulting palette contains 102 colors.
But yeah, that pic gives a feeling that there is no limitations at all.

Looking at most of the other spectrum gfx, this seems almost unreal. First time i saw it, i had it mistaken for Atari ST gfx.

It is well known fact that this is a copy. Author said more - the outlines was done over transparent layer. That is why the picture was used in demo only and didn't entered the compo.
