Mimisama by

Description
#05 at Datastorm 2011 amiga gfx compo"It is a portrait of our cat, her name is Mimi.. and the japanese way of being polite to dignitaries (royalty etc) is adding "sama" after their name... Hence the name.. Mimi-sama...
The picture was scetched up in photoshop, once I got done with adjusting proportions (like larger eyes, smaller nose and some headshape I continued in promotion. Which I admit - suck at.. Terrible palette and ranges.
Since I did it from scratch for about 4+12 hours right up til the compo deadline. I didn't have enough time to complete the "pixel-wash" that I intended to cover the entire image."

Err... Someone must have mixed up the C64pixels.com doublescreen compo 2011 and Datastorm 2011, huh?
You tell me !

They look like some colors are messed up (around the eyes). But on the other hand, on the hair they look intentionally placed.
Where is the artist when you need him for those questions.

Oh I was mainly thinking about conversion, that's why I mentionned the now dreaded c64pixels 2011

anarkhya: you should really deal with the history of gfx competitions
Anarkhya | 2011-06-02
haha ok veto you're right I see your point, you know, I'm aware that the c64 compo was not the first round of a long debate/scandal. I only quote this compo because these were very recent events I can connect with. Anyway, I wasn't trying to offend

Sure looks messed up huh? It's my first pixel art pic in close to 10 years! I was hoping to elaborate much more with fxxked up pixels than what you see here.
I'm planning to make another one next year, then you'll hopefully see what style I had wanted to achieve with this.

I am very happy to read your answer and realize that this picture, as we see it, is completely correct. We should have taken a closer look at your gallery. That would have answered the question if it was intentionally or not, in the first place. I would like to invite you elaborate more on the idea you had in mind when doing this picture. i think i am not the only curious person around here. And btw. welcome to ArtCity & BitFellas MRK!

Thank you, good to be here
Uhm, well.. It is a portrait of our cat, her name is Mimi.. and the japanese way of being polite to dignitaries (royalty etc) is adding "sama" after their name...
I didn't have enough time to complete the "pixel-wash" that I intended to cover the entire image. The owl pic in the gallery has a little bit of that feel.
