@Anarkhya: this is not a specific screen mode, it's just a low res video mode with a lot of palette splitting.

Yes, and you can also change the palette during the line, it's a common practice on ST,
some gfx tool manage that very well, like Neochrome master http://dhs.nu/files.php?t=single&ID=25

...so any atari graphician could have used a kinda 256 colors mode instead of sticking to the 16 ? And its common practice ? I'm learning something today
