one of the few in the "oldskool" compo with a real oldskool palette? Great work.

What would be the point of making and oldskool entry with modern 24bit palette? plus, it looks better, when i worked with it, it had 24bit palette and after I converted it and tuned the palette on amiga it looked better.

@Bracket: Please, can you provide a link to the original 24bit image, in order to understand where you came from. I'm interested in the process.

you can find the in progress version of the pic from here: http://low.fi/~bracket/accession/brc-mr.reed.zip the phase* files are all using the 24bit palette. The picture was always 32 colors or less but the palette of those 32 colors was 24bit. Process is basicly pixel the picture with the 24bit palette using 32 colors, then load the picture with emulator using Personal Paint on OCS amiga and the tune the palette so it looks ok and the save it. After that you can of course edit it more on pc if you do not change the palette. There's no magical dithering algorithms or anything like that. Just a lot of hard work.

Oh sorry bracket I misread what you first wrote, I thought you were talking about a 24bit color space but I should have read 32 colors from a 24bit palette. Anyway, your steps were informative (at least for me).
You've gone far in terms of dithering and AAing, especially to smooth curves, I can see the hard work in it. For the nitpick part, maybe some diagonals (head cracks) could use more AA...

Yeah, I agree. There's always something and at some point I get tired of working on the pic.. i was thinking of uploading the unreleased picture I originaly made for Outline but ended up making Mr. Marvin in 5 days instead.. oh, heck. I'll upload it. I'll never enter it in a compo anyway.

Grats on 1. price btw! well deserved winner
it is kinda sad that the "oldskool compos" accept entries with 24bit palettes. Should be C64, Atari/Amiga, Oric, Spectrum or any other real oldskool palettes.
