i think that organizers except of saying 'i'm sorry' directly to Slayer should express that issue to wider audience and elaborate what exactly happened at the prizegiving ceremony.
after reviewing this picture and that i know how much time was put into that picture and the final result achieved i feel angry of whole situation that such unfair rules of competition could happen.
it should be taken into consideration that even with reseting his vote counters this picture has taken 4th place and beaten mine fairly! (http://artcity.bitfellas.org/index.php?a=show&id=28896).
Slayer is definitely the rightful winner of the oldschool graphics competition

i second slayer. to clear things up - i was also involved in this situation. because third instance of "that he heard" was obviously me.
slayer is right: his pic looked absolutely brilliant on the bigscreen had definitely the most applause. speaking for myself i had no doubts that this is the winning pic.
i do not know when this deletion happened - first time when i started voting the pic was not there. that moment i did not mind about this because there were still network issues going on. next morning i went to an organizer because of something different (was because additional info was missing which was shown on the bigscreen) and also mentioned slayer's missing picture. answer was - "he released it twice and was taken from the compo". lucky me chinese whispers was short so i could clear things up. hope you acceppt my apologize that i did not talk to you first.
to sum things up - it is still my no 1 pic from the compo and so i am impressed that you managed this piece with 32 colors only.

Thank you Slayer, for your extensive comment and the explanation. I heared this from veto half a day ago and i was like WTF? This of course should never happen and i hope, that your case at least helps to avoid such things in the future. I for once, and i hope no one else is calling you a thief. Reading through your and my early comment i think, i in fact did make a too early and false assumption. Its exactly your third point, the fact that i personally don't like that way of working and the similarity to your 24bit version that made me jump to that conclusion. without seeing workstages etc and i am sorry for that. I hope you can accept my apology and the person who actually reported your picture as "already released" has the guts to apologize, too.

I wanted to ignore the matter, but on reflection I changed my mind. Maybe the things that I write will help to make better rules on the Revision Oldschool Gfx competition next year. So...
This image above called "Train to Nowhere" is of course a hand made pixelled version of my older truecolor graphics (that won Rivwerwash 2011 newschool gfx). The creation of this version took me about 100 hours to finish. From a technical point of view, it is for me a completely different image.
This gfx was shown on Revision'12 oldschool gfx causing the biggest applause in the competition. Pleased that my work was appreciated, I gave a party with friends, then we returned to the hotel.
The next morning, however, it became something unexpected.
And now began one of my more unpleasant memories of the party. I went hastily to the organizers to explain this situation. I heard the complaint that "I put out in the competition the same image as the Riwerwash 2011" (because someone said so, and they were tired last night and did not check it carefully) - which was nonsense. when I explained the matter, reached the second objection, that the graphics for Revision 2012 certainly has been automatically converted. So I asked they to carefully examine the pixel structure of the image to enlarge and to see added steps. I was told that it will be done, but a little later, and will gather a group of organizers.
So... after a few hours I was notified that I was right They actually said, that they're sorry, but the image removed from the voting system can not be restored ... But maybe they can add it back to the system as a new one but they have to check some unique technical capabilities of voting system.
After some time, when many people had already voted (and even asked me why it was not my work in the system) the picture has been re-added to the system.
Unfortunately did not have time to make up for loss of point, one also did not inform voters that the image is again added. disgust remained.
So the conclusions about Revision Oldschool Gfx can look like this:
1. Your graphics can be removed from the competition because of any denunciation (yeah!)
2. In this case, none of the organizers obviously did not inform you of this fact, nor does it ask for an explanation (yeah!)
3. If you do a conversion of 24 bit graphics to 8-bit image by automatic script - everything is ok (see the oldschool competition from last year)
4. If you do a manual conversion work of Boris Valleyo, also everything can be in order (phew, maybe nobody will notice it).
BUT
if you do a pixelled by hand version of your OWN truecolor work, then you are a thief.
Bye

indeed, it's hard to believe it ranked 10th place while http://artcity.bitfellas.org/index.php?a=show&id=28892 ranked 6th place
@xenusion I beg to disagree, its inspiration comes from "The Ghoul" by Les Edwards:
